A single-storey house under one wide roof. Four bedrooms in two wings, a central living pavilion open on both sides, and a pool that sits in lawn between the house and the beach.
Bay House is for flat, beachfront land and for the guest who books a whole house for a fortnight: two families, three generations, a group of friends. Everything is on one level, so nobody is carrying bags upstairs and the youngest and oldest are on the same floor as the pool.

The sheet
The plan is an H. Bedrooms are in the two outer wings, each pair sharing a garden court, and the living pavilion joins them in the middle with no walls to the front or the back. Sea breeze crosses the house without air conditioning for most of the year.
The roof is the house. A dark ironwood shingle hip with eaves deep enough to sit under in the rain, held up on white lime-rendered walls. It is the roof form of the region, built properly.
Plans and figures are indicative and vary by site.
